Dragon Ball z: Tenkaichi though possibly the final installement in the dragon ball universe went out with a bang.
With as many steps forward as this game took it took a few back. The graphics where amazing compared to the previous games; though number three could easily be it's equal. The controls of the game where confusing if you had gotten used to the past Budokai games and are a bit annoying to active during a duel. The ability to fly a power fly was a nice touch but made it rather difficult to fight in environments that had destructables in them. AKA power attacks would hit debris and never reach your enemy.
The games new creators almost did away with combos by moving the trigger to start power attacks to the shoulder button. The punch and kick combos where scripted into the square button if you wanted to move to kicks after four punches you could simply tap x and give the a power punch then it would sometimes switch to kicking but the computer even on easy never would allow this to happen... and neither will your dueling partner if they are smart. The dragon rushing ability was clanged to a charged up flying attack which there were very few uses for if you could not link up the punch and kick combo with a charged finisher which if you held the button in for the required time would simply allow you opponent to block.
The game still offers a large array of characters the battle with but with little distinction between them in fighting style Kirllin can be just as strong as SSJ4 Goku. Though they added plenty of characters they added the non essentials you couldn't be before and got rid of some others. They seemed to have added two from the gt Sega but gotten rid of Uub and Shenron from Budokai three which was a major setback when it would not have been so difficult to keep them in.
The final drawl back i could see that was not enjoyable about the game was the fact that you chose your transformation from the character select screen and eliminated in battle transformations.
Over all the final installment was god but not quite what it was supposed to be falling short of some expectations. As for the PlayStation three it does not seem that they plan to continue the franchise so you will have to get your DBZ fix from your game boys.
