Something very well done to pass the time away until the next GREAT DBZ game comes along
The best parts of this game are the extremely over the top graphics when it comes to flashy supermoves. Albeit repetitive it is fun to watch the moves not much more than once or twice. The voice work is once again very well done, having used the actual American and Japanese voice actors from the series. The storyline covers from the World Martial Arts Tournament with Goku as a small boy all the way until the end of the DBZ universe including some GT clips (Baby Saga) and most if not all of the movies. The story is very compelling and takes a while to get through from beginning to end. The really intriguing part comes during the new Z Fusion system which allows players to combine Potara (items won after battles during story mode) to create characters, new items or better items. It is very self explanatory and is very fun to figure out which items go with which to make that helpful boost to get through the rest of the game.
The bad parts come with the nonresponsive camera during multiplayer and single player levels. The camera sits behind the player (or player one in multiplayer) during the entirety of the fights (excluding most powermove animations) and cannot be changed. Also for the not so dedicated player to fighting games, the AI is exceedingly smart and seemingly overly powerful even when placed on the very weak and easy settings. The survival levels can and will be frustrating for those just looking to play it for fun or to play through their favorite anime series.
It is well thought out and a very welcome part of the Dragonball Universe. Hardcore fans of the series should buy this game due to the justice it does to the series as a whole.
