A brief breakdown
User Rating: 7.5 | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi PS2
Okay... I like this game, but is it a better game? Yes and no. More characters less moves. No in game transformations. What were they thinking? I feel the game is seriously unbalanced. A SS4 goku in the world of DBZ cannot be hurt by Frieza also the extra characters are just the SS versions of some of the characters already available. I think that the game is an honorable attempt to do something new however it fails to exceed Budokai 3. The dragon rush was decent and gave characters access to more special super moves. Why couldn't they just keep the budokai 3 stuff and add the 3D evironment to destroy? I mean I like in DBZ: BDK3 the whole meter tapping thing to try and stop the attack or pressing the right button to defend a dragon rush. You have to press 2 and 3 buttons to pull of a special beam attack. Insane... It is difficukt to teleport and the new rushing after you hit is not as cool as the teleport hits.
The lack of the transformations pissed me off the most and the z items are useless. As it stands now characters are limited and DBZ is all about possibilities... I hope it is possible to create the ultimate Budokai game with these elements and the game will be perfect. 1. Every possible character in the DBZ, DB, and GT universe is playable. Baby in his first form, then when he took over vegeta's body, Goten from GT, and what a fusion would look like in GT with Goten and trunks being that they considered doing it. Captain Rildo and his OMega dudes. goku in is GT child form. 2. Just everything in Tenkaichi as it is as far is the flying and destructive envirionments. Still worth getting though.
