huge let down
The most realisitc DBZ game ever made. You will not be able to beat Final form frieza with krillin, even on easy. Its hilarious to see Hercule try to punch any of the fighters and his punches do not do any damage while the recipient just stands there. It is extremely hard to beat the cpu on easy, its really crazy hard. You can't go from budokai 3 straight to this game, they are completely different. Also everyone knows about the over the back camera and the free roaming (kind of) enviornment. I really like your opponent can be hiding behind a mountain and you can still shoot a kamehameha THROUGH the mountain and hit your opponent. The Beam struggles are cool, as you can inject more KI to make your wave more damaging, if it hits. if it doesnt, you are left standing there, exhausted for a good 5 seconds and open to any attack. The spirit bomb is the most unimpressive its ever been, it is so easy to dodge, its really a joke. The greatest thing that i loved about budokai was the ability to transform in battle. well guess what, THEY TOOK THAT OUT! Now you are left to a DBZ Final Bout style game where SSJ goku, SSJ 2 Goku, SSJ 3 goku and SSJ 4 goku are 4 different characters! and i didnt even add in the regular goku! Yes this game boasts 60 playable characters, but who the hell wants different characters for differnt levels of Super Saiyan?! This, to me, is a real step backward in the series. If they could have just kept the transformations and made the camera a bit more managable, this game would get 8.5's accross the board and would be a solid game. I mean, its not all bad, the Z Battle gate mode, which is this years version of story mode, is really awesome. It has all of the different sagas from the Television series, dragonball z and GT and from the movies (Cooler, Bojack, Jenemba, Broly) Although, some battle gates are the same sags only u get to be the bad guy. The only thing that really bothered me about this was the stupid "Survive until the time runs out!" battles. pretty much u just run around trying to avoid or just not die against another opponent who can kill you in three ki waves. They really need to take out the ring out aspect of the world tournament, i can win in less then 10 seconds by jsut chargin at my opponent and punching. its just ridiculous. And the sound, oh god, i am so sick of that menu music. did u know they use the same main menu music that they have used since Budokai 1?! Hearing Goku say "I'm sorry, but i just cant waste anymore time with you" Over and over and over again while you beat people in the ultimate battle mode just kind of wears on you eventually. they need to get new music for the next installment. In the end this game is probably a bit better then budokai 2 but not as good as 3, BRING BACK THE IN BATTLE TRANSFORMATIONS AND ADD MORE GT STORIES!
