This game is the best DBZ game, however it is missing some elements

User Rating: 7.8 | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi PS2
This is my first review and im going to make this one short. Basically the biggest change in this game are the controls. The controls and gameplay are much different, actually completely different than the previous Budokai games. This gameplay reminds me of Zone of Enders or virtual on. Personally this is how Dragonball Z games should have been from the start. The environments are destructable, you can fly around on your own! Thats right you can actually fly!!!! This ability alone deserves this game at least an 8. Well anyways the graphics are the same as all the others. Im not to sure what gamespot was smoking giving it a low ratings, its practically if not exactly the same as budokai 3.

Now the problems with the game are the lack of moves each character possess. They seemed to focus more on quantity of quality. Each char has super moves and what not, but others are repetitive. For example.. there is a super move called explosion wave in which the char screams and energy just burst out of the user. Now it sounds pretty cool, but its annoying when 15 other characters have the SAME technique. If your going to put tons of characters in the game, at least make them different. It makes me wonder why fat buu is performing a move that only Vegeta knows..???

Also the other problem are the combos or lack thereof. There are only 2 combos in this game, that will get boring as well, after a while. The capsules you once knew in the custom game are no more. They are now replaced with "items", very few may I add. There are hardly any items or custom items in this game. The customization in this game is a joke, and is very bad compared to the previous dragonball z budokai installments.

Overall this is a great start to a new dragonball z game series. If they ever make another one, hopefully the combos, items, and characters will have more depth into them. Even though this game has many flaws as I stated and seems to feel incomplete at times, it definitely is the best dbz game out there.
