An interesting take on the budokai franchise

After playing the preceding 3 budokais I was greatly anticipating the release of this game. I must say it is unlike anything I have ever played before. There are a few things about this game I really enjoy, and number one would have to be the amazingly long list of different characters you can be. Just about anyone you can name from DBZ who ever had a few moments of fighting in the anime is selectable. However, one problem I have noticed is that their attacks sort of overlap. You may find that many of the characters utilize the same exact moves as others. I also feel that the hand to hand combat as two characters get close together during battles really just isn't very engaging. Battles often feel a bit repetitive and it really can feel at times like you're simply recycling the same attacks and strategies with the computer no matter which character you pick. This game is not quick to learn how to play either as the controls will seem quite eccentric to a new player, so unless you have friends who have played this game before or are willing to teach it to them or take time to let them explore it for themselves, you'll find playing against them won't be too exciting. Now it sounds like I have a lot to say about what I don't like in this game, but in actuality it also has a lot of redeeming qualities as well. There are plenty of ways to relive the entire exciting storyline of DBZ, and a hardcore fan will more than appreciate this game.
