Atari has completely changed everything in the gameplay that made budokai 3 so good, and added a more complex and unstab
The graphics stick with the cell-shaded look which is awsome cause I don't really wasn't to see DBZ characters looking fully 3-D . The enviournments are geuorgeuouse, and the guys at Atari really did a good job with making the water look all anime like . Again it delivers a very solid looking game that capture the feel and look of the anime tv show, but one thing is for sure it look no different than last year's budokai game .
This time around almost everything in the game is voice activated, he he . Well before going into every mode Goku will say what that mode is supposed to be all about, and then into every mode you go another DBZ character will tell you what the thing in that mode is supposed to do ... after listening repeat the same thing over, and over, and over again I got sick of hearing there little anoying voices . Just kidding it's good to see that even the cut-scences have the original cast voice acting . The music is not good . It's kind of the kiddish type music that fit's well in the game, but at the end of the day it's just not good .
Before I get into the acctuall gameplay I wan't to talk about the couple of game modes Tenkaishi has . Z gate is you're usual " Ulock all the characters in the game, and get all the capsules you can get " DBZ mode . But the presentation is very good . You will only start playing through the raditz, and freeza saga, after you finish either of then you will unlock another event in the dbz world, one of the problems that I found with this mode is that the game will basically make you have to play through the same opponent, but with a different character more than twice which get's annoying if you wan't to unlock a character and you have to play through him a second time . If I have to say something positive is that before and after a battle win or lose you will be treated to a full blown cut-scenes which is much more different than budokai 3 . Other mode includes world tournament people familiar with the budokai games will already know what this mode is about . Ultimate battle is basically you trying to get more capsules while you try to raise you're world ranking from 100 to 1 . Tutorial, which is more boring than ever, dueling and that's it . Everything seems all to familiar, except the battle system which is ... bad .
First off there has been a new trick inclusion called speed rush which prepare for it to annoy you . It consumes little gauges, for an attack that takes 4 halves of your HP . The camera issue is the biggest issue with the game . At times you won't be able to even see you're oponent due to the fact the the camera will go wherever the hell it wan't to while you're oponent is kicking the heck out of you . This time it's easy to make launch a kamehameha etc.you're bar gauge will raise up quickly which makes it incredibly easy, and not fun . You can just play the traditional way punch and kick and through the favorite technique every 30 seconds, but then you're oponent will launch as many energy beams as the can till you die, the fighting system is a bit complex in terms of the buttons combination, and the gameplay mechanics just feel unstable . Atleast you can roam around freely ... but remember to keep a close eye on the enemy or else you will be trying to find him yourself .
Overall : It has pretty graphics, DBZ fans are going to be excited that the original cast's voice acting is all over the game and you can play littery with 50 characters ... but the gameplay mechanics are just awfull, and so is the camera angle in the game that all leads up for a buy to dbz fan I mean it is a dbz game after all, but other than them just avoid this game .
