Great Game, but Could be Better

User Rating: 7 | Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi PS2
This game, well, where to begin. It's a whole new step for Dragonball Z, that's for sure. Whether that's good or not, I'll let you decide.
This has a different approach to Dragonball Z, much different than earlier Budokai games. The fighting is great with the special effects, but the camera angles can get very annoying, and since their is ultimately no way to fix this, you can get mad when Krillin keeps launching his Destructo Disk when you're too busy finding out where he is. So definitely a thumbs-down.
Next, the sound. The music is so ungodly horrible, why couldn't they have spent some extra money to add to the Dragonball Z experience by purchasing rights to use the music from the show? That would rock. The voice overs are pretty good though. So thumbs-up/thumbs-down.
Now onto the meat and potatoes, the real reason you bought or rented this game, THE FIGHTING! Oh my god, the fighting. Where did all the wonderful mini dramatic cutscenes for the Super Finishing Moves go? Not to mention that they have completely demolished the Dragon Rush. That's right, no more having fun trying to guess what button you're opponent picked which was oh so cool. And hey Dragonball Z fans, another surprise is coming your way. NO MORE GOING SUPER SAIYAN OR FUSING DURING BATTLE! I know what you're thinking; that was so fun! I thought so too. A real thumbs-down.
Where did they go wrong after Budokai 3, a GREAT game? Well in a lot of places. Let's just hope that the next Dragonball Z game will make up for this.
