Definitely one for religious DBZ fans

If you've played Legacy of Goku for GBA, you pretty much know what to expect. Sagas features fun gameplay for a short time, after a while, you just want to get on with the story. Myself, being a serious DBZ fan, and having seen every episode atleast once, had to check out this game. Sagas is nice, because, like the Legacy of Goku's and the Budokai games, it lets you play through the different sagas of the Dragon Ball Z series. The story pretty faithfull follows the series, and even has a great deal of highest possible definition show footage to accompany, although sometimes it stretches some of the points of the shows, and even deletes or adds things altogether. But like I said, it stays pretty true. There are quite a few different moves you can do in battle, from combos to 2 types of energy attacks, although you'll probably wind up just doing one combo over and over with the energy attacks thrown in, since most of the combos are way too advanced. The battle intself is mostly just a block and hit tactic, although the instant transmission ability live in battle is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the battle system, like regular adventuring gameplay, features some serious bug action. This game didn't seem to be tested well enough, or Atari was just being its typical self and didn't really care, but you might get frustrated by the bugs here. Graphical wise, Sagas is lacking. The episode footage at the beginning and end of each chapter is stunning, but the gameplay features graphics representing the little hot dog vendor next to the sky scraper that is Budokai 3, which was released recently before Sagas. Overall, you'll spend about 2 hours, then wish that you could hurry up and get to the ending. As much fun it is for me, a DBZ fan, to relive the Z warriors' greatest adventures, even I lost patience. The gameplay could definitely use some more variety, other than the current run along, fight new but pretty much the same enemies, then get to the boss style. So, unless you're a monster of a DBZ fan, you should probably look past this one and go check out DBZ Budokai 3, you'll have a lot more fun there!
