DBZ: Sagas isn't worth your time or your money.

User Rating: 3.2 | Dragon Ball Z: Sagas PS2
Dragon Ball Z: Sagas is a lackluster action/RPG game that basically goes from the Arrival of Raditz to the end of the Cell Games. The gameplay is pretty clunky from the button repsoniveness to the slowdown during fights with enemies. The gameplay is very unresponsive with the repsonse coming about a second or two later of when you hit the button. The frame rate runs at a slow rate especially when there a lot of enemies on the screen at one time. Secondly, there are some glitches in the gameplay. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, your character will just disappear right from the screen, you still will be able to control your character, but, you won't be able to see what you are doing. Next, sometimes, the screen will get really dark for no apparent reason. Lastly, the camera is a pain, because you able to move the camera angle, and sometimes, you won't be able to your character through walls or mountains, or you can't see your enemies due to the camera. Also, the graphics aren't nothing to praise about either. DBZ: Sagas dosen't use the well done job of the cel shading that was used in Budokai 2 and 3, instead they use the ugly looking polygon sprites. The backgrounds are decent, but, not great. The sound is another ugly thing here. The background music is compeltely generic and the same music is reused throughout every level of the game. The original English Voice Actors are used in the game, but, they don't sound like enthusaic as they do in the anime. They sound like there were reading from a script, and the voices do come in the middle of fights and just don't fit right and sound uninspired. Overall, DBZ: Sagas dosen't have a lot of replay value because once you beat the game which takes you about 3-4 hours to complete. You can unlock Pendelum mode which you go throughout the levels with any character you want. But, there's not much difference between the characters because all of the characters have the same moves and can do all the same things. So, once you beat the game, not really to make you come back and play the game over and over again. DBZ: Sagas could been something innovative and marked a great entry for Dragon Ball Z on today's consoles. But, in the end, it's just feels broken and falls short.
