Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku 2 turns out to be one of the best Dragon Ball Z games ever made.

User Rating: 8.3 | Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II GBA
Dragon Ball has a reputation of having many very bad games made about it. From Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout on the Playstation, to Dragon Ball Z: Taikatsu on the Gameboy Advance, Dragon Ball has really not been too impressive as a video game. Recently however, there are some good Dragon Ball Z games coming out. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 was one of the best fighting games of 2004, and now Legacy of Goku 2 is a very capable action RPG that is a perfect game for any Dragon Ball Z fan to pick up. Legacy of Goku 2 covers the Trunks, Androids, and Cell sagas of the Dragon Ball Z story. There are five playable characters and one hidden character that are in this game. The five main characters you play as through the story are Goku, Gohan, Trunks, Vegeta, and Piccolo. I won't say who the hidden character is, incase people want to unlock him then find out who he is. Many of the other popular characters in the series, including Bulma, Krillin, Tien, and others also make appearances in the game. Many popular villians also make appearances, including Freiza, Cell, and the Androids. This is an action RPG from a top down view, similiar to a 2D Zelda game. Each character has stats, and gains levels through fighting however. One thing that doesn't really make sense in the game though, is that these super powered warriors can fight tigers or snakes, and actually get KILLED by them. I understand there has to be difficulty in the game, but the enemies should of been made more formidible so you can actually believe that the enemies would have a chance against Goku and his friends. Also, every character has several special skills they can use that uses up their EP (energy points). The trademarked moves are here, like Goku's Kamehameha® and Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon®. The fanservice put into the game is great for the Dragon Ball Z fans who will be playing this game. There are many sidequests that result in finding out more stuff about the Dragon Ball Z world, and seeing more of the characters who populate the world. People who aren't Dragon Ball Z fans obviously won't appreciate the fanservice in the game, so this game is really focused more on the fans of the anime series. The graphics are pretty average when it comes to Gameboy Advance games. The characters are all little sprites, with big anime heads. The worlds are colorful, but so more could have been done with them. There is a cool mode 7 entree when you are flying around the world going from place to place. Other then that, there really isn't much to mail home about the graphics. Sound is similiar to the graphics, how they aren't very too impressive at all. You here a few Dragon Ball Z tunes through the game, but most of it is new music that doesn't really seem to fit in too well with the game. Also, sound effects aren't really too good, but they are really the best you can expect out of a DBZ game for the Gameboy Advance. I hoped there would be some sound clips in the game, but there are non unfortunently. Overall, this game is a very fun game for me, especially since I am a big Dragon Ball Z fan. I would recommend this game fully to any fan of Dragon Ball Z, but if you aren't a fan of Dragon Ball Z, you might wanna pass on this game, since you won't get everything out of it that a Dragon Ball Z fan would get out of it.
