not the best in the series, but pretty good
the positives are the new change in graphics, battle replays,a good amount of characters and places to fight and the brand hero mode where u can finally create up to 3 characters,a lightweight character,a standard one and a heavyweight.the lightweight class specializes in ki blast based attacks and speed but has a disadvantage in the melee category.the standard class is evenly balanced between health,ki blast attacks, super attacks, melee attacks and chain effects.the heavyweight class excels in melee combat and raw power but falter when it comes to ki blasts and can only learn a few ki based super attacks.i also like how each character has a unique fighting style and a different way they perform chain effects.
the negatives are that the game does not allow u to interact with the enviornment like the way they did in dbz boudakai tenkaichi did and boss battles are cool but short and there are only 3 in hero mode.there also isnt much skill required to play the game becuz after each combo the game pauses while each player picks a button(square and triangle on PS3) and u have to pick a different one than ur opponent to go to a chained combo and then press the same button 3 more times to continue it.there are 5 different chained combos u can do depending on which way u tilt the analog stick.all combos do significant damage but thats where the game gets repetitve becuz thats all u do in battle.thats why the combat engine is so called"shallow".but thats no reason to give the game a 4.
