Nostalgic grinding with a charm that never gets old.
DQ4 Chapters of the chosen begins with you the hero, then shifts to different characters over the course of several chapters, whom all eventually meet at the last chapter. The game itself is very traditional, and it is quite easy if you're the type who likes to level grind your characters (which you should). The monsters do not level scale to your current level as in most recent rpgs, so it should be a breeze if your characters are about +3-4 levels higher in the current location you are at, not including the exp you will gain from clearing the location/dungeon, which in turn would make you consistently stronger when you proceed the story; which is linear.
Sidequest wise there are a lot of mini medals- if you're familiar with dragon quest games, you collect these medals for special items/gear from the npc who collects them. There's an added bonus dungeon and boss when you beat the story's final boss leading to some more replayability.
The game is a great JRPG, and it has that nostalgic charm of the 16bit era if you are in the mood for an oldschool jrpg.
