Dragon Quest VIII is just a great game that anyone who likes a good RPG and a fun story should definitely play.

The good: one of the best looking RPGs ever (on any system), cheerful music, combat that is simple but also involves a lot of strategy and planning, fun story and a memorable cast of characters, interesting side quests

The bad: the encounter rate is frustratingly frequent, high difficulty may repel casual gamers



The review: There isn't much to say about Dragon Quest 8 besides the fact that if you are an RPG fan, you should definitely play it. It is fully clear why there is such a big hype in Japan everytime when a new DQ game comes out there. The latest in the series, Dragon Quest 8, combines everything that a fantasy RPG should have. Great visuals and audio, fun gameplay, interesting story and characters make this a traditional, but superb JRPG. While it can be very difficult at times, it also demands a lot of thinking and strategy while in battle, so that makes it the more interesting in my opinion. If you already haven't, go get a copy and start playing! :D
