American Owner's Review!

User Rating: 9.3 | Dragon Quest VIII: Sora to Umi to Daichi to Norowareshi Himegimi PS2
Gameplay: Its a great turn based game .. you would have to appreciate 'old-school' games to really enjoy this though. I had to knock one point of the list due to the fact that if you play it using the 'American' ps2 you'll have loading issues. What do I mean you ask? They're handy features in the ps2 to protect against piracy but at the expense of CPU loading speeds -_-. This story doesn't drown you out from battling, but you will be expected to level grind in areas.

Graphics: Imagine this game coming out when FF7 did, it would of been great :D! It has nice graphics.. for cell shaded but for some reason I never get the feeling that the characters are 'life-size'. You know what they say though 'If you try and don't succeed, try try again!". (Expecting better graphics from the sequel!)

Sound: Its orchestra witch still sounds awesome for the American version, although its not loaded into the ps2's memory in this edition so the music can cause some of the 'lagging' between battle-to-field screen.

Overall its a very good game if you do like old-school, hopefully we'll expect better 3D sequels since this is Dragon Quest's First.
