DQ8, A mind gripping experience. hard to put down, easy to pick up
You start the game as just simple guard in a castle with a life and friends. Then this Bozo Douhlmagus steals a sceptre and everything goes haywire and everyone in the castle including the king and his daughter are transformed while. You however are stangely immune to this curse and set out with the king and his daughter on a quest to save their behinds.
Later you gain a partner Yangus by saving him from a falling bridge that you find out later on in the game, the party grows from there on out.
Thats the basic story line and now onto describing the game.
Some people say that this game is tough, tougher than most rpg's but dont see how this isint a good thing. The eneimes you fight on a regular are hard enough at the start but as you proceed you obviosuly get spell's and techniques to get your party out of a spot of bother. The more enimes you face in a short time, the faster you level up and the better that is for everybody.
Bosses are extrememly tough and this game and its takes strengh and brainpower on you part to beat the hell out of them. it makes you think all the time about different and effective ways to wipe out your oppenents. You accuire moves that hurt the enemy party, make your characters better, give you news ways to win, give you an egde in battle and once you get into the game you even get your own monster team that can fight in battles for you.
The graphics, i fell in love with the graphics with this game. RPG's that focus on realsitic graphics usually takes some focus away from the gameplay but in ths game you have challanging gameplay, a riveting storyline and absoltluey MIND BLOWING graphics. The graphics can be closely linked to that of the DBZ games from the ps2 and work extremely well with this game as it makes it seem more fantasy and like a story book.
There were no shortcuts taken with this game. every house, nook and cranny is furnished with beatiful scenery and extras. bags, pots, chests, drawers can all be opened to reveal tasty goodies inside and are everywere witch makes NO room pointless to enter. the textures are veried and the colours are plentyful. The weapons glem in the sunlight and the game comes with 1000's of animations for both your team members and the enemy.
This game does not skip on graphics or gameplay, now some extras.
The soundtrack for this game must have taken along time to rite and preform. an orchestra was clearly used for this game, and well. the music is in a word "Grand" it changes depending on where you are or what your doing. The voice acting of the terifficly put-together cutscenes in top-notch and you love every minute of it. SFX are also superb and theyre are lots of them for everything imaginable.
This game's story is close to perfection, if they made it into a movie i would hump it into submission.
I hate writing really long reviews that people wont even read but i have so much respect for this game and it needed this praise basicly. Think what you want to about thsi game but if you say its crap because its too hard then you shouldnt be playing RPG's in the first place.
I freaking love this game
