Tired of Pikachu? Try slime.

This game originally caught my eye after playing Dragon Warrior I & II for the GBC. I had realized I was in love with Rpgs, as well as the Dragon Warrior franchise. So, I bought it and after playing for a while, realized I was hooked. The story was interesting, if unbelievable. (Who would go through a portal inside a dresser for their sister?) It was like a poke-dragon hybrid. The "catching" engine was more challenging, and the monsters tended to look more...hardcore(?).
This game may look like Pokemon, but it isn't a palette swap. It has a classic rpg battle system, allowing the player and challenger to have up to three monsters on the feild at a time, selecting attacks and targets. The battle engine is somewhat different as well, allowing for considerably more than four skills, and a has of critical-hit-like functions from: “Slime lets out a war whoop!” or “Phoenix attacks boldly!” There are also commands that can change your monster’s personality, which will affect it’s performance in the tournaments, where you can’t give specific commands. A coward might defend, while a hasty monster might charge head on. The most addicting part of the game is perhaps the breeding system. Unlike Pokemon, The results aren't limited to the ma and the pa. There is no telling what monsters could be made with the right mom and dad. In short ,if you have a Game boy Player, Sp, or even you original advance or color,
try to find a copy. (And it has rock paper scissors!!!!!!!)
