Finally an RPG thats new

User Rating: 10 | Dragon's Dogma X360
OK a 10 is a bit overrated. No game is perfect and really deserves a 10. But to me either a game fits into
"Dont get"
"Get at a cheap price"
"Get it now!"

This game is a get it now. Modern day RPGs seemed to have left the old school classic atmosphere in favor for a MMO feel and even old school RPGs have a weak spot when it came to anything outside of story.

This game has both amazing gameplay mechanics and atmosphere.

Graphics- First im a PC gamer, and I never seen an RPG look this good. Graphics to me arent about pixel count, but how it looks. Never have i seen an RPG capture such an ideal way how fantasy genre should look. Some reviews say "its cliche fantasy" but i laugh to that as I dont see anything close to how amazing this game looks. Quivers, canteens, equipped weapons, sheaths, arrows, magical staffs, torches, lanterns, it screams how a D&D character looks. My party has a dwarf fighter, a mage, and an elven strider with two daggers and a big warrior. I constantly love how good they look teamed up.

Combat- Combat is pretty fun and tense. Though i wish it wasnt so fast paced, as it seems a bit arcadey. I still think Demons Souls has the best RPG combat system (but shallow in other departments). But combat is twitch combat and combos can be pulled off. For the most part enemies will be tough. And its fun combining classes and skills together.

Difficulty- Traveling at night is suicide in some parts, so at times you will base your traveling experience, duration, and distance based on the time of the day. a nice involving concept. Monster dont adjust to how to your level. So If you wonder off course you will be introduced to quick death, or take the risk and enjoy the rewards. Its feels good to wonder off the beaten path and be introduced to a spooky dungeon and not end up fighting a bunch of wolves and get a wooden spoon as a rewards like in Elder Scrolls. Another difficult part is lack of fast travel. Some may hate this as it makes the simpliest task of going somewhere a pain and time consuming but i like it b/c the game doesnt hold your hand. Its an RPG enjoy the journey.

Pawns- Pawn system is kind of cool. Share and recruit other peoples AI side kicks so they can share and learn new techniques and knowledge. Its engrossing to have your party talking to you about a breeze, or how big a tree is, or throwing out hints about a quest or locations.

Overall im not too impressed with that many games. Maybe 1 game a year I play that i cant put down. This is already that one game. Get it if you own a console and like RPGs.
