Although repetetive, this is still a pretty good game. I enjoyed playing it a lot.

Drakengard for the PS2 is a really good game...for a while. When you first start playing, you just kill people with a sword, and that's basically what you do the entire game. You do get the help of a dragon though, and there are 64 different weapons you can get in the game (or is it 65?). Anyway, there are 2 different types of levels. Ground and Air. The ones in the Air take place on the back of your dragon, which isn't very impressive...at level 1. Later on in the story, the dragon grows levels, up to 3, although technically you can go to 4. The higher the level, the larger and better the dragon is. In the Air, just kill everything, which basically is the theme of the game. The Ground missions are basically the same, although you are on foot, fighting with your weapon of choice. You can still use the dragon, which saves time, but you can't level up your weapon that way. The weapons level up too, depending on how many kills you get with it. They also go up to level 4, and when they grow a level, their magic gets better, and their attack increases. Just like the dragon we love so much.
Yes, there is magic in this game. When you kill about 7 people, your green bar of orbs fills up. When you get enough orbs (normally 5), you can use your weapon's magic, and it normally is pretty good, so it's worth using. Each magic is different, but they are similar to others. The dragon's magic is a lot more impressive, normally you can only shoot a few shots, but when you use magic, you can kill a lot more.
Drakengard is an amazing game if you can get past the repetitiveness, maybe rent it first to get the idea, and then you can decide. I hope this review helped you out if you are considering playing it.

Keep on playing,
