Draw A Stickman: EPIC

User Rating: 3 | Draw a Stickman: EPIC IOS

When you begin, you get to draw your own character, then a "friend". The friend gets pulled into a book, and you go in after them.

There are 13 levels, and in each one, you have one or more magic pencils. These pencils just do one thing. You start off with a Fire pencil which creates fire, used for burning objects and igniting dynamite. The next is a Cloud pencil which creates rain used to water plants, or a storm cloud used to zap objects with lightening. There's a Key pencil and Axe pencil used for opening locks or chopping things down respectively.

Since there are a limited amount of pencils, the puzzles are pretty straightforward although can be a bit strange. For example lighting up a pumpkin to distract a zombie enemy. Once you learn what each thing does, then it makes sense since there is a lot of repetition with the objects.

The levels are short, but the navigation is quite clunky. You move your character by tapping the screen; point-and-click style. If there is an object in the way, your character will just walk into it, rather than having decent path-finding and walking around it.

There is quite a lot of danger, and most things seem instant death. Being stung by a bee will give you a chance to move away, but if you aren't quick enough, then presumably you get stung again because that would result in death. When using the Fire pencil, there's usually lots of objects nearby that can also ignite in a chain reaction, which often leads to your death.

The game is quite boring and awkward, so repeating the levels due to death is extremely frustrating. There are no checkpoints in the levels, but the levels are usually really small.

You don't actually need to complete all the levels to reach the end, since some levels have multiple exits. If you want to unlock all levels then you will have to replay some of the levels. Like I explained, it's not fun repeating the levels anyway.

The graphics are simple but work well with the theme.

I definitely didn't enjoy my short time spent with Draw A Stickman Epic. It seems clunky and the main gameplay isn't fun.
