I thought really hard about Dreamfall before I decided to finally pick it up, and I'm glad to say it was worth it. All the conflicting scores given to it by journalists and readers alike had me a bit confused. But I figured if I cared enough to read all this stuff about it, I should just get the thing. Dreamfall is a sequel to the PC adventure game The Longest Journey which I've never played but wish I had. The already rich story definitely reaches back to that game but is still legible to noobs. Story , story , story... but what about gameplay, you ask? Well, there's not much to be found. Run around, talk A LOT, solve the occasional puzzle and fight the occasional bad guy and that is it. It doesn't sound very good does it? Well it's not, really. The fighting is bad. Really bad. It's like Jade Empire's fighting system but WAY dumbed down. And the puzzles aren't challenging either. So why play it? Because the story is THAT engaging. It takes about 10-12 hours to finish it and there's no real reason to play it again, but without a doubt it will leave you wanting much more. So if can appreciate the idea of a great story with extremely light gameplay then give it a shot.
