Driver 3 is the reason why I appreciate Gamefly so much. I went nuts trying to enjoy this game, I can only imagine what it would've felt like if I paid $50 for it. The control scheme in Driver 3 was so horrible that I lost interest after 15 minutes. The opening movie was great, but disappointment rolled quickly afterwards. There is constant clipping while driving (it takes a minute to notice but when you do it's very annoying), very bad collision detection (you actually sail right through the bushes while cutting medians, your tires are constantly digging in the pavement like your skating in a sandstorm) and you can wreck your car by slamming into a kryptonite made unbreakable lamp post. The overall graphics are very mediocre and not up to a par for an Xbox game. The 3rd person shooting is so atrocious and the enemy AI is very unrealistic. In one instance, I was climbing up a fire escape and I fell two stories, miraculously landed on my stiff cardboard feet and didn't even grunt or fall, and then froze up...totally unresponsive (finally two stiff walking cops came over and shot me), and unacceptable for a game that took over two years to dish out. Shame on whoever tested this game and decided it was ok to sell, and shame on Atari for taking a growing franchise and totalling it...hopefully this can be repaired. For those of you still considering buying this game, consider this...for less than $50 you can buy Driver and Driver 2 for the PS1 and spend hours ripping up the roads...forget Driver 3 was ever made. This test drive is done...it's sealed and going back to Gamefly tomorrow!
