The Driver series has gone down the drain with this one!

User Rating: 4.7 | DRIV3R PS2
Did you ever play one of those games that felt like there could have been more? Well it's the case in the sequel to the PS1 Driver games, Driver and Driver 2. First of all, it feels like a cheap knock-off the the excellent Gran Theft Auto game series. You know, steal cars, blow up cars, kill innocent civilians and all that. But Driv3r, does everything wrong. It is not a worthy knock-off. Don't get me wrong though, this game is pretty fun to play, when you UNLOCK the cheats. That is one thing that bugs me about this game. Unlockable cheats that are very obvious. If does hae cheats, they should at least make it a bit of a challenge to enter them.

It has the original and most fun Take a Ride mode as usual with all the driver games. But those cop-car sirens get extremely annoying after the first 3 miles of being chased. The vehicles don't look all that bad, but they could've been a lot better. The damage effects get an A though. Also, the fact that you can still only get 2 cities to ride in, is sort of a let down. You think that they would throw a couple more in there. The Undercover mode is disappointing. The story line is not clear the the gamer at all. You're basically just doing what the screen says. Also the fact that you have to drive back and forth to missions is very inconvienient. I mean you could crash on your way to the mission, and that isn't cool. Honestly, I think Take a Ride is more fun.

The Driving games are sort of fun as well. I personally think that they could be more developed and made to be more of a challenge. Those games, to me, are pretty easy.

All together, this game is underdeveloped but still sort of fun when you get sick of your GTA game. But if you ask me, the original $50 price tag, was totally not worth it.
