Stereotypical 3D racing now in 2D! And much harder!

I have not seen the Sylvester Stallone movie, "Driven" and yet I bought this game cheap (€10) of the internet. The other cheap game ("No rules get path") I had order was sold out so it felt necessary to fill out the gap with another game (and my brother kept telling me: "C'mon it's Sylvester Stallone - it can't be a bad game"). Although I can admit that I had some fun with this game (the cheating and reckless driving), hence the rating.

Driven is a formula 1 racing game that might seem interesting (or not) on the outside but is actually full with flawy, repetitive gameplay that is way too hard. There's a story mode which you can not save your progress in, a Grand Prix with repetitive tracks and hard opponents. And finally the only peaceful mode in Driven - Time Trial.

The gameplay is pretty typical, you choose an F-1 and compete against 11 other cars in a top-down view race. To make the game more interseting, you can transform into a giant fireball and smash through your oponents. If you touch another car without the flameball you'll crash and lose about all your chances of winning the race.

The graphics and sound is pretty mediocre, although there's some songs that made me hum along. I don't know if they are somehow connected to the movie.

Cheats. That's what made me play this game more deeply. Before I knew about the cheats I had no chance in unlocking anything. The game is just too hard. You have to know all the racetracks by heart and avoid the other cars, because if you don't avoid them - KABOOM! Driven is full of unlockables - it's just a shame you can't actually unlock them.

The game does feature multiplayer mode which I don't think I ever got my hands on because you need two cartridges. But I guess it's not a big deal.

Maybe I'm just so pissed off at this game because it was as bad as I expected it to be. Somehow this feels like my first real rant-review. I also think this is the fastest review I've ever written. Took me under 15 minutes for sure.

If you find this game really cheap, get two copies and have some multiplaying, otherwise - just avoid this title.
