Mediocre at its best...

User Rating: 6.5 | Driver '76 PSP
As a fan of the Driver series, I was excited when I learned that the game was on the PSP. However, when playing it, I was very disappointed.
The game is essentially trying to be another GTA clone on the PSP. There is nothing wrong with another GTA clone, but the game was badly made.

Story:
In the game, you play as Ray who falls in love with Chen Chi. However, Ray finds out that she is already has someone. As a result, Ray tries to gain the respect of Chen Chin's father to be able to go out with Chen Chi. The plot advances further...

The plot is essentially boring and not interesting. You will most likely skip every cut scene.

Gameplay:
Driving is an important part of the game. There are also shootouts on ground but the majority is on car. You will spend the majority of the game driving and shooting at cars, following another driver, stealing sports cars and much more. You can also free roam and drive around the city but unlike GTA, there is nothing to do. The only reason to free roam is to collect stars , that's it.

The car missions are ok at best and can be fun at times, but the shootouts are uninspired and very boring to play. The freeroam is completely useless with nothing to do.

Presentation:
The game looks mediocre on the PSP. The whole game feels uninspired. The city, cars, and people look ok at best. The streets are mostly empty with the occasional car and pedestrian, but it mostly fells like there is only 20 people living in the city. The game will also randomly load while driving. Unlike GTA again where the game loads when traveling to different island, Driver 76 will randomly load without warning while playing the game. The only good thing it has going for it is the comic book style with the 70's.

Overall, a poor GTA clone with good 70's music.

Conclusion:
Do not get this game even for a cheap price. I would highly recommend any GTA game that came out on the PSP. I'm not a GTA fanboy, but these games are a lot more fun to play. For the same price, you could instead play GTA Vice City on the PSP.
