another good series gone bad
Graphics+Optimization: bad bad bad bad bad , even a 2006 game looks beter than this but as you all know graphics don't make a game good or bad but lets say graphics nowadays have their uses , not to make it better but to make it more pleasent to the mortal eyes .......VERY BAD GRAPHICS and on top of all of that it is baddly optimized , how can you make a bad optimized game using the unreal engine i don't know and again i don't care because at this point i am wasting my breath writing a review about a game that i will not boter to play it the second time afther i will finish it. And what the hell it's with the fire,it looks bad, blowing up stuff doesn't make me fell happy it makes more angry because the stuff that blows up looks like the ones from return to castle wolfenstein (i am talking about the game afther wolfenstein 3d amazing a game from 2001 or so and i am comparing it to a 2011 game), the characters aren't pleasen't either but lets say they look far more better than the rest. I had some problems with the game , i was force to stop using the Vsync option because i couldn't see anything, nvm that it may be my fault but if someone has the same problem with the black screen deactivate that option.
Gameplay: it's ok in fact the gameplay it's easy , even a 2 year old boy can play it (don't buy it for kid's it is verry bloody) , it's a run and gun shooter with some puzzles. One more thing if you think that you can carry more than 2 weapons you are wrong oh boy only 2 weapons for this bad boy, don't wory you will find a lot of weapons but you can carry only 2 at a time. You don't have to worry about ammo, you will find a lot of ammo nevertheless thats not bad because a game like this should be only for fun , run and gun kick some aliens in the balls and so on and this is the only good thing about this game. One thing bothers me why the hell do the aliens die from one statue thrown into them and the hero can't carry more than 2 weapons,hmmm i think i should start a brainstorming session to find out why. Another thing at some point when the loading screen is active you will see some tips , one tip i remember "watch for the cover because most of it can be destroyed" or something like that, nvm you will get the ideea, this is funny because this isn't true , i didn't see much of that destruction but then again maybe i didn't play that much , and i did play 4-5 hours ...This game has it's bugs like geting your minicar stuck on the stairs and some more. The AI is ok not the best not the worst, it is ok ......
Fun factor: ok Duke Nukem is about fun i don't need fancy weapons or fancy cars, clouts or whatever, I NEED FUN. Is this game fun? eh sometimes but because of it's shortcomings it really gets annoying, at some point it will get frustrating because the "pain never ends", in fact it only gets worst , i've spent 4-5 hours hoping that it will improve but it never does, hell if you want to laugh and not in the bad way like i do because the game looks like trash but because it is really funny try Bulletstorm and listen to "Ohgren" talk ( i think the guy that did oghren's voice from da:o it's the same in Bulletstorm, i may be mistaken but it really sounds like him)......But yes sometimes DNF can be fun when you aren't distracted by the ugly environment, bad character design bad gun design bad movement bad sound and so many bads but if you want to kill some "pigs" and aliens or kick them in the nuts it gets the job done, barely but it does. There are better alternatives Quake (it may have better graphics -jocking) or Unreal or Unreal Tournament or Borderlands , Bulletstorm and so on ......In 5 hours i've smiled once and that was in the beginning , oh man the only memorable part of the game until now were the first 10 minutes.....
This game is a disgrace for Gearbox for the unreal engine for the Duke franchise , sorry 3D realms i hope you will learn in the future from your mistakes, if they made the game like the duke 3d i would understand , and I am sure i would had enjoyed it more than this thing that they call DUKE NUKEM FOREVER.........Do as you wish buy it if you want but you will do it on your own risk , i may see in it a bad game but some may se it as a good one (i don't see why but everybody sees a game/product different), but be careful for what you wish and don't get your hopes up even if the graphics are bad the game is optimized poorly and you still need a good computer to run it a mid end system should do the trick my suggestion don't buy it full price , wait until the price gets lower ..
