Not the series shooter that everyone hoped it would be.
I've read many peoples comments, and they all seem to add up, saying Duke Nukem Forever is a bad game, it's not a real shoot-em up. It isn't a classic remake.
Lets clear that up.
The original Duke Nukem games were never aiming to be the best shoot-em ups, they were trying to use new detail in games, and try new things. With the recent release of Duke Nukem Forever, you can see that the designers are still doing the same old thing you loved from the original Nukem games.
So many interactive objects throughout the world of Duke, weight bars, toilets, light switches and so on. The minor details brings up a plus for me.
Storyline;
The storyline in Duke Nukem is really cheesy, but it's Duke! Your the bad ass of all bad asses, so you gotta go out and do anything in style. It's an action packed game with big explosions.
The storyline wont hold you into the game for long, but if you don't compare this to realistic shoot-em ups, you can have alot of fun here.
As this game is no where in line as a realistic shooter, i wouldn't put it down because of that reason. I gave this game lesser score because it didn't add up to the hype of what they tried to make it out.
The weapons were poor, i ran around witha pistol, and a shot gun for 80% of the game, and decided to use a machine gun towards the last few levels. All that work on these silly strink rays, freeze guns, just didn't add up, because they were beyond pointless.
In short;
If your looking for a game with some fun moments, and don't mind it being a non-realistic shoot-em up game, where you can run in take some damage and kill some people (Kinda like Halo), then this game is worth a try.
If you like to 'kick ass and chew bubble gum' this game is also for you.
