Although being part of an excellent franchise, this one just doesn't match up.

Having played Dungeon Siege and DS: Legends of Aranna almost non-stop through the end and DS2 looking excellent, I had great expectations of this game. Alas the game could not live up to it's big brothers.
It starts out as a surprising game, it looks to be nothing special at first glance and as soon as you start playing and level up once, you'll see that it is more interesting then it might sell itself to be. However after some hours of playing, perhaps some minutes for some people, you will notice the repetitiveness of it, the glitches and bugs and the mostly boring and monotonous environments.
Story-wise there is pretty much nothing going on for about 70-80% of the game. Some land is in danger in which you happen to be trapped and thus you help them. Later you'll find out more and it will actually get a plot in it, but by then it's really too late to care.
The music is excellent, it has been very well-orchestrated but Jeremy Soule if I remember correctly, who is also responsible for the Guild Wars soundtrack. I don't like classical music very much, but it suits the game. It is vibrant and alive and almost everything that it's visual counterparts are not.
Animations aren't what they could be, honestly, through the entire game you get the feeling that you're not hitting your enemies. And some that you do hit you don't, and I don't just miss, but one of the targeting bugs keeps you from attacking certain enemies (and them attacking you) when they're standing near rubble or other things that are on the ground blocking your walkway.
Sounds did not play along with the actions. Either the game lives .25 seconds in the future or the sound is that slow, but this is no surprise with all the other things.
Loading times were horrid from time to time, it would load in only a few seconds in a few seconds and then you'd be waiting at least half a minute often times before it would continue.
The gameplay itself is quite nice, but again certain bugs keep it from reaching it's potential. One being that at certain levels if you don't upgrade your abilities you'll get 10x experience. This happened to me and I of course am the kind of person that exploits this as long as it is in single player. This made me big and strong and not even boss monsters could touch me anymore after a while, I was always 5 levels ahead of my enemies.

There are great games that are similar to this one, this is not the best, the most interesting, or the worst. Fans will like it, simpletons might too.
