Always bet on Duke, just not Dynamite Duke!
So I remember my dad buying me this game for my 14th birthday back in the day. I looked at the box art and I could tell that i was going to be in for one hell of a suck fest!!
When I fired it up, it was actually not as bad as i had thought it was going to be. It's pretty much a first person rail shooter with Duke in the foreground ducking, punching, and taking cover. The screen auto scrolls after each little encounter to take you to the next.
The graphics weren't too horrible and the explosions were somewhat cool. Unfortunately, much less remains to be said about the rest of the game. The boss fights felt frustrating and awkward, where you can to duck and slide around to dodge the melee attacks.
Most of the later levels felt the same and got a tiny bit harder. I believe it took less than 30 minutes to beat. 30 minutes. I really hope my dad didn't spend more than $10 on that game. It would have been a much better experience if there were multiple paths or secret levels. The game was simply too short! But looking back at the game play and music, thank god it was.
One or two sessions of Dynamite Duke was more than enough. :)
