Another great Hack N' Slash title from Koei. Dynasty Warrior fans do not want to pass this one up.

User Rating: 9 | Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires PS3
Before I start this review I want to clear a few things up fans of the series have been asking about.

- The game does NOT have a Free Mode.
- The game does NOT have Multiplayer. (Does have 1-2 player offline)
- The game DOES have DLC. (Downloadable content)
- The game DOES have a Character Creator.
- The game DOES have 51 trophies/achievements.
- The game DOES keep the "Renbu System" (Which I personally think is good)
- The game DOES have a few new stages, a new character and new fighting styles for existing characters.

Instal Size: 3.1GB

**REVIEW**

PROS* - Even more troops in a battle then in. - CAW( Create a Warrior) returns a pretty good amount of options. ( Especially for Koei).
- Annoying reoccurring voices is gone
- LOTS to unlock on top of DLC and achievements.
- Renbu System Returns( Good to me)
- A VERY deep empire mode with a slew of options.
- Every Dynasty Warriors track in history can be played whenever.
- Short load times, and load times almost don't exist with install.
- Lots of strategy or just Hack N' Slash your way through it all.

CONS*
- Some poor aliasing
- Sometimes troop pop in might occur
- STILL no Online Play!!!
- No free mode...? WTF?

Graphics - I'm not going to lie. Dynasty Warriors 6 and Dynasty Warriors 6 Empires do not have the best graphics in the world. But its not that bad either. Now and then there will be some troop pop in and some bad alaising but its nothing you can't get passes. It does have good shadows/shadowing and some farely good textures. But the amount of troops on screen can be insane. + It doesn't have the worst character models in the world.

Sound - They did it. They killed the annoying reoccurring voices whenever you kill an officer/general which is a big plus. But the great voice acting from Dynasty Warriors 6 is gone and replaced with very average voice acting

Controls - Its still an easy to use **button masher**. Its uses the "Renbu System," which lets your warriors attack just flow in combat majestically. It can be very mesmerizing at times.

Challenge - Theres a slew of options that let you decide if you want to single-handedly slash your way to victory or if you want a really tough challenge. The A.I. isn't that bad. A lot of times you will have that epic Chinese battle feel...Straight out of a Jet Li movie.

Interface - It has a smooth, straightforward set up and navigation. If you need help there are optional tutorial modes set up to help you.

Empires Mode(Story) - Empires mode is a great experience for a DW fan this time around. With the Con of no online multiplayer......

But you have 3 general choices:

Be a Vagrant(or mercenary) and roam china picking sides for battles for pay and do varies challenge like (Delivering letters, escorting/body guarding, ect.).

Or you can be an Officer and pick a Ruler/Lord/King you want too fight for. In the Officer case you cannot just attack freely(at least at first.). You see every few months you have a council meeting with the fellow generals and the Lord of your faction, here it is decided what your lord wants to do. After awhile as you accumulate experience you have a say in council meetings, but not starting out. I personally like being an officer but if you don't: You can always just up and leave... or even defect to another side in a crucial battle if you feeling a bit mean.

Last but certainly not least is being the ruler. If you want to most possible strategic experience then this is the pick for you. Being a ruler you control your nation, all your troops in battle, your populous, markets and all that good stuff. Just keep in mind that you have to pay your officers so maintaining your nation when your just starting out may be a bit difficult... all you need is a few good men to start out with!

CAW(Create a Warrior)*********** - If you don't want to use ANY character from the DW universe... this is and probably should be the first place you go. Theres a lot of options not the most in a custom character creator but a lot. Lots of cool armor types, ANY fighting style of any character you want, a decent amount of facial options, and your character's height and build( From a 3-foot 60 pound little person to a 9 ft 310 lb ripped guy/girl), how their stats will increase, you can also choose there special ability, and last but not least you can choose their card. This card is the special advantage your ruler can pay for to use in battle. You can make up too 100 of them and release them all into your own ancient China!(If you want). This mode made me really excited about this game.

Also one last note: This game can fit more troops in it then the last one. In Dynasty Warriors 6 I averaged killing 600-1100 troop KOs on average(Which was far more then the Last gen counterparts) But. this time around I average anywhere from 900-1800 troop KOs Bottom Line: A great Hack N' Slash with a really deep Empire mode and a slew of options. Must Have for fans of the series, and if your looking for a fun, button masher' with halfway decent graphics, deep, lots of unlockable content, DLC, and a CAW mode this is a really great pick. A must have for fans of the series. Tons of hours to pump on.

Now if your looking for a Hack N' Slash with great voice acting for the ancient chinese feel, about 40 characters, about the same graphics and less pop in, and a free mode? You may just want to check out Dynasty Warriors 6. It was a great game too. However, I do think I like this one a little more.
