another disappointing review from gamespot (seems to be more and more of em too =/). DWG2 is bounds and l

better then its predecessor. More suits, more parts, more content in general.

When you start the game you find your self at the main menu, the familiar 'Official' missions option is there, but the 'Original' has been replaced by Mission Mode. Though this new system is awesome.

You choose your pilot then are given a few missions in each category as well as the original story missions.

What makes this one stand out from DWG1 is that you know can forge friendships and enemies by your actions on the battle field, what missions you complete, and other various methods.

This effects you directly in what missions you can do, when you can do them, as well as the bigger mission arcs that once completed unlock stage 4 parts.

Sadly the Original storyline does not differ as much as I would have liked it to, but there are some subtle differences (such as being able to temporarily stop the enemy advance in Jabero by killing off the 2 advancement team fields).

Unlocking pilots is the same as in DWG1, complete their storylines then they are unlocked in Mission Mode.

There are also acheivment missions for wheny ou complete certain objectives, like destroying 1000, 10000, 20000, 30000 or mor enemies, or completing a certain number of missions.

These special missions will usually effect what happens during battles (what pilots will use as their MS') or unlocks parts.

There are also now restrictions on what MS' can be used.

For example, besides the starter MS', you have to collect a full part set for each MS to unlock it. It can be all level 1's or a mix of any level parts. But once you have the parts, and you do not need a license for it, you can pilot it.

One thing I wish you could do in the game is to pilot a Mobile Armor, you may be able to, but I have not seen anywhere the you can so far (58 missions into it so far), it may be an unlockable from the achievement missions i spoke of earlier.

MA's are new to DWG and add a certain level of difficulty to the mission. The worst ones are the Qubeley look-a-like and Dozie's MA, they have special attacks to do tons of damage of a fair distance.

Once you get used to how to fight them though, for the most part, they become easy to kill off.

Besides the usual suspects you can now also pilot general mass produced MS' like the Zaku II, Zaku Tank, GM, Rick Dias, etc.

There are several missions where you are forced to use one of these non-gundam suits, and let me tell you, it makes the game VERY hard, even on easy (only if your not using lvl3 parts on them, and event hen fighting a MA in one of em sucks to high hell).

one thing I absolutly hated about the game though was the change to the sp system. Instead of being able to use each stage as you get a new level, you have to fulfill certain pre-requsites in orcer to use a certain sp attack.

Example:

DWG1 using Heero in Wing Zero at its max SP level he would use the circular double gun move, but in DWG2 he will do the same move from the first game when he only uses one SP level for the entire time until all 3 levels are depleted.

If you are in the air when you hig the SP attack button he does the same attack as SPlvl2 in DWG1 and only when you are with an ally pilot and have the SP arc with their suit can you use the lvl3 SP attack from the first game.

Also new to the game is the Mobile Suit lab where you can upgrade parts, add special effects to parts, and create new parts.

They also threw in a Musha Gundam MKII, I have not unlocked it yet, but from fighting with Gringham, its pretty strong.

Overall I give DWG2 a 8 out of 10, its crammed with content, but keeps most of the shell of DWG1. New suits, some new maps, and a whole new mission system all together make this game worth the buy for fans of DWG1, Gundam, and Dynasty Warriors alike.
