My candidate for best title of the year. A must have even if you're not a fan of the anime series!
Sure, the stories, VO and script fall right out of a translated Japanese anime. Not much substance, but with such an additctive gameplay, who cares?
There could be hundreds of enemy units on screen at one time, making smashing them a guilty pleasure. Fights with other mobile suits and bosses are fun... sometimes pretty frustrating because they are hard to beat.
One great feature is an interim save. If I don't have to finish a level, just save it and resume it later, while keeping all the trophies/parts you reached up to that point (wished Madden would do this).
Just like Tekken, fighting is all about combinations and timing, not just button smashing. Learning how to gain zones in the most efficient manner will save you time and get you some awesome parts upgrade.
The Story mode is pretty comprehensive, but the Mission mode is where you could get lost. So many missions, so many tasks, so many things to accomplish on various levels makes this a complete game.
I haven't even touched the online mode yet... but these typically do not impress me, even on the highest DSL speed available in the silicon valley.
This game is as good as elite titles: Gran Turismo Prologue, MSG4, Madden 9, Air Combat (still waiting for PS3 title on that one).
