A decent port to PSP from a good series, new players to this series will enjoy this, and veterans will probably pass.

I can assume that many here are very familiar with Dynasty Warriors series from 1-6. Simply put, for those that have played Dynasty Warriors especially 3/4 you will be able to instantly tell the exact similarities between the PS2 console versions and PSP Port Version. The intro to the game is pretty much the intro used in Dynasty Warriors 3 with some simple changes. Luckily for Dynasty Warriors the games no matter what have always been consistent in gameplay and control. You use a joystick (you can change this later) to move around, hack and slash, and use the 4 buttons on your right just like a regular PS2 controller. For some it may feel a bit weird to move with the joystick, though once you get the feel of it, it becomes pretty easy. One thing i did not like was that when you movie the camera does not switch angles automatically. For instance you are charging forward and slashing though soldiers though some more soldiers possibly led by a captain is attacking your back and when you turn around the camera is still focused on the front and you must manually press the L-1 shoulder button to have the camera switch to your point of view and retaliate. I did not enjoy how they changed the game-play from the console versions to shortening the levels dramatically. Instead of going straight into the level, before that you have to choose your officers and choose on one of those boxes in a map which represent a "level" to start and really the "levels" are finished quite quickly even if you are in a middle of the battle. So at times you can finish a few levels within minutes as opposed to the console version which can take up to 1 hour+. However as always it felt like i was playing the console version of Dynasty Warriors. The graphics were excellent, i really enjoyed the character designs in the game, and the combat still has that constant feel of awesomeness plowing through mobs of thousands of soldiers and pulling off a big Musou attack and wiping out hundreds at the same time. The additions generals rather than just plain bodyguards which you can level up as you progress is still fun. The difficulty levels pretty much remain the same though no Chaos (Very hard choice) it is mostly you being swamped at the beginning with enemy soldiers and enemy generals usually use blocking a lot more and get more hits on your character
For those new to the series, this may be much more enjoyable compared to the Veterans who have played Dynasty Warriors 1-6 on the PS2 & PS3. Overall while there are some negatives to this game, nonetheless it is still an enjoyable title to play just for the sheer fun of hacking through thousands of soldiers and ultimately unlocking all 42 characters.
