An interesting adventure that is unique enough to run with the best of the best on the Nintendo DS, and it's cute too!
I'm glad I did, because its been alot of good, clean fun.
Think of Elebits:TAOKAZ as a hide and seek game with an rpg twist. You can collect different Elebits to give you various powers, then level them up however you see fit. You also save energy in your gun, which in turn allows you to explore the severel different worlds and move forward in the story.
Pros:
-Fantastic Music. I love a game with catchy music, and Elebits has plenty of it.
-Great Stylus use. The stylus isn't my favorite thing to use, and to be honest I think its the DS's worst feature. I would rather play using buttons. Elebits gives you that option, while still letting you play using the stylus in a way that won't scratch up your precious screen.
-Sleek story. Though the entire game may have been designed for a younger croud, I felt delighted with its story. Its simple, but very entertaining. The game introduces mysteries and a few twists to keep you interested.
-AWESOME boss fights and puzzles. I had no idea these would be part of the game. They are refreshing and fun to try to figure out.
-Cool sense of exploration. It is almost like a Zelda game, you have a map and can explore the different worlds you travel to. Certain Elebits will help you unlock different areas.
-Great art design. I love anime, and the characters/Elebits are just freaking sweet to look at.
-Gameplay. Capturing the Elebits is extremely satisfying and addicting. I've never played a game like this.
Cons:
-Voicework. Lets just say its not the best. But on the other hand, I've heard worse...(Suikoden Tierkreis for instance).
-Difficulty. The game might prove to be too hard for younger children. I would recommend this game to anyone 10 and up. Capturing the Elebits is tricky.
As an overall experience, the game is worth your money. It is different from the Wii game, but better in my opinion. Don't let the game's cutesy feel turn you away. Inside this little DS gem is a fun world of adventure and addicting gameplay. I popped it in my DSi and didn't want to turn it off. When a game accomplishes this, it simply shouldn't be ignored.
