Don't be fooled by the cute graphics, this game is both fun AND challenging.

User Rating: 8 | Elebits WII
Elebits is one of those games you may see a game store and quickly discard it as a kiddy game, or a game that only younger gamers would play, you'd be mistaken. Elebits is cute but it also provides just the right amount of difficulty that allows you get through the game without too much hassle but you may find yourself repeating a few levels.

Elebits tells the story of a young boy named Kai, who is lonely and hates Elebits, which are the cute little creatures you see on the cover. Kai hates Elebits because his parents are renowned researchers who study Elebits and Kai feels neglected because they're always caught up in their research, thus leading to his dislike for Elebits. One night, all of the power in the city goes out and Kai sets out with his dads Capture Gun to find out the mystery of the power outages, and to capture the Elebits that are running around the house as well as in the town.

The game is very simple: You must capture a set amount of elebits for each level, and as you progress through the game, various things are added to the levels. For example, when you reach a certain mission number you will have a set amount of items that you can break, so let's say you have 10 object limit -- if you break MORE than 10 objects then you automatically fail the mission. However, if you've already cleared the mission before breaking 10 objects and continue to go through the mission with what time you have left, you will NOT fail it if you have already passed the level. Next are things like the black elebits which can damage you and if you run out of 'health' you will fail the mission as well.

There are various items placed throughout the game once each thing is added on to your mission however. Noise cancelers will help you if you can't make loud noises during a mission, Shields will protect you from gun fire, black elebits that fly at you if you hit them, and will also protect you from the fire of the elebits that shoot at you in later missions. Super strength orbs will allow you to move ANY object in the area regardless of how big or heavy it is and sometimes can be extremely helpful when searching for hard to find elebits. Threre are other items in the game but there is always a solution to every "challenge" the game throws at you.

The graphics and the music of Elebits flows together very well. Each mission has it's own unique song so you're never left listening to the same song twice (unless you opt to choose a previous missions song for the current mission, another added feature -- song selection). The graphics are bright, colorful, and cheery, so they fit with everything the game has to offer.

In terms of gameplay, Elebits doesn't really have any major issues. You'll find that controls can go a little whacky from time to time and you may have difficulty keeping a grasp on far away objects but you shouldn't have too many issues with the game itself.

Overall, Elebits is a fun game to play when you don't want to play something serious, or if you feel like enjoying a game without the attachment of having to continue playing immediately to remember the story (Elebits even has a 'story summary' option so you can look back on the story so far if you don't play for a while).

Definitley a game you'll want to pick up if you find it for cheap, but don't spend an outrageous amount on it.
