I'm not a TBS fanatic, I've only played the Mainstream games like civilization, Heroes of Might and Magic and Galactic civilizations, but I have to say, this game does it all. The UI is easy to understand if you play many RTS games (my genre of choice), and the random map generator is second to none. The game balance is great, and the graphic style is unique. I love it, but many other reviewers find it ugly or annoying. But the gameplay is what matters, and this game has it in spades. The create your character, combined with the design of your units with weapons, and the balance between all styles of play make this game a keeper. The tactical battles are awesome! Sure its turn-based unlike the total war series, but that does not make them any less crazy when the game gets into the later stages. This game combines the best of Civilization, Heroes of Might and Magic and Master of Magic into one fantastic TBS that is absolutely a must own, and has turned me into a staunch supporter of Stardock.
note: the only reason that I rated it a 9 instead of a 10 is that there are a few bugs to be worked out and AI could use some improvement, but those are very minor complaints, and should be ironed out soon knowing Stardock's support policy and constant patching.
