For Turn-based fans
the game-play is what you might expect from a turn-based fantasy game, taking care of your units and trying to balance the strenght of your new characters! Which one of the new characters will I take, which one of the old ones will I keep???... though decisions if you know what i mean...
Good ambient, sounds and nice old-school atmosphere.
The only two problems with the game, first, was the crashes at certain point, but that was solved immediately with the patch.
Another problem was the design of the battle screen, specially the awful line that marks your unit´s attack to the foe...
But... in the end you get used to it, and more because of the really great time you have trying to figure out the strategy to follow on every new step you take and on every new scenario you open... and the GREAT feeling of watching your units grow up in effectiveness and eventually getting the job done, well enough to advance to the next stage and becoming very powerful, strategically designed (upgraded) units from your limited army... yes!, the one that will be with you 'till the end! ...if some cool new unit appears later... that is...
A very rewarding experience if you are into Turn-based games, a genre I specially like above others!
The strenght of this game, as I said, is the bond you create with your creatures and heroes. Gameplay is a second thought... you are there!
those creatures are yours to command, Your job is to keep them safe, attack when you feel the time is right and get through like a champion!
My score is 8.5 because it's a deep strategic game, a great attempt when the masses are going into pure action and no substance... This kind of games like Empire of Magic doesn´t grow up in trees this days! :)
If you find it somewhere, Get it!, at this point it might be cheap... so, don´'t think twice... have a good time!!!
