It's among one of the best strategy game I've ever played!!! I have never seen such-in depth detail of formation, morale, wind, terrain and positions so important before, in the grand campaign, where you can choose from 10 powers from the 1700, the strategy isn't focus on simply battles, it depends on your economic, infrastructure development, taxation, diplomacy, alliances on a grand national scale to do so, and when a battle breaks out, you can choose from several mode of attack, retreat or besiege.
The battles in the game are also in grand, magnificent sizes, the reality of battles in game also stun the sight of anyone, infantry fighting bayonet to bayonet, stock to stock, it's all so intense and strenuous. The naval battles are also very much realistic and strategical, depending on time, directions, and wind, only the one who can observe the surrounding best will prevail in victory, this is a real masterpiece for real-time strategy!!
However, there are occasional crashes as well as quite a numbers of bugs in the game-like sometimes groups of army not responding, incorrect direction movements against the player's wishes(not because of fleeing), when switching to close-quarter fight to storm a building, there are some problems with armies movements, sometimes the demanding formation with bugs could drive you mad because this is all about timing.( lost the chance of counter-attack, being wiped..etc)
Anyway, despite all these bugs and crashes, it remains one of the toppest game I have encountered.
