This game was quite epic when it was released, but playing it again after several years shows many flaws which it has.

Well, this is one of my childhood's favorite games which I grew up with. I finished both light and dark campaigns on all difficulties and didn't complain about anything.
Few days back, I once again picked up Enclave's CD and thought "wow, I should beat this game once again". Unfortunately, I was not the one who has done the beating. I will try to point out most of the problems.

Fighting system. The biggest problem trying to land a hit on enemy with both ranged and melee weapons. I don't know how is it possible to fail that much with it. Let's start with ranged weapons. Firstly, if you shoot while walking, somehow all projectiles start curving. Even when you shoot standing still and then walk, all arrows and spells curve at strange angles. Secondly, there is a difference where you hit. I mean, head shot does biggest damage, hitting torso less damage and legs or arms almost no damage. That is good, but there always is a BUT. Every part of body has a very small hit area, regardless of animation. That is, you must aim neck in order to do a head shot. If you try to hit directly enemy's head, arrow or everything else will go straight pass it, dealing no damage. Even with a bow in snipe mode, game it self shows that head area is in neck. Also, sometimes when I load a bow with 8 arrows, all arrows do not hit an enemy from small range, other times, I do over-kill.
Melee combat. It is evenly hard to hit enemy with a sword compared to a bow. You swing around huge sword, but enemies somehow dodge them. Of course small hit areas does the job, because Enclave doesn't have dodge. Furthermore, shield is kinda useless. Even when you stand in front of enemy, he can still hit you with all or weaker damage. Only in some kind of magical angle, you can block full damage.

Enemies and balance. Well, the worst thing is that enemies do not have those problems with aiming. They always hit with melee, they always hit you with arrows and spells, even jumping to left or right at the last second doesn't always help, because they try to predict your movements. Also, you can feel during game, that in the same level there is a huge gap between enemy damage. Some of them for example deal 6dmg and then Chuck Norris appears and kicks you in the face with 60dmg. That is fun. Some traps may kill you instantly regardless armor. Especially in one level when it is intended to be with a lot of traps.
Oh, and don't forget that level with a dragon. You can kill all mages kinda fast with sorceress and poison staff, but there is a boss... That dragon flies in the sky, always maneuvering and hiding below island (you battle on floating island). You get 2 stationary ballistas in order to kill a boss. Those are placed on 2 different sides of the area, facing left and right, and rotating a little bit more than 180 radius. So, the dragon always tries to be on the other side of your ballista and magic arrows (or something) which you shoot from the ballista do not fly straight ahead. No-oo ... They instantly drop, so it's almost impossible to hit the dragon if it's above you.

I think I said enough. I guess a lot of you got bored while reading, but if you cherish your health, don't buy this game. It's evil.
I'll give it 5, because I liked it when I was a kid.
