Not the best of it's kind, but not the worst. Some good points and some just not so good...
Controls: The beginning of the game is slow, not many combos and not very entertaining, more of a tutorial of sorts to help you learn all the controls. Not very complex could take a bit of getting used to, like switching weapons in mid-attack to do a cool move or switching while mid-jump.
Gameplay: Throughout the game you sort of have challenges or puzzles that require you to power up a certain weapon with two Ley seeds allowing you to do a special attack that is usually combined with an element. Most of the time it is simple and you just use the most recently acquired weapon. Boss fights are fun and are more challenging than the regular guards, though can be very easy if you use the right weapon and tactics.
Camera: One thing that really makes this game suffer severely is the camera, for some reason I always find that the camera is facing me instead of the direction I'm looking in, which gets annoying sometimes. Most areas are medium or large in size which makes the camera not too much of a hassle, plus you can always push R2 to view straight ahead.
Graphics and Sound: The graphics aren't the best but they are pretty smooth and have a nice look. I liked the character designs even though they are somewhat plain. The weapon designs are pretty cool and there's a good amount to unleash pain on enemies. I have to say that the voice acting while not fantastic, isn't annoying and is done quite well. The music is pretty much repetitive when an enemy sees you a battle theme plays. Otherwise there's alot of ambient sound, not very musical, kind of a techno vibe to it. Sound Effects are decent and are pretty much on cue, though could be better.
Overall I liked the game, the story was decent, characters are cool and the gameplay was fun, especially getting the Ley seeds for a new weapon and using it's special attack. I wish the music was better to put you more in the mood but it's still a decent game worth playing.
