Eragon is one of th games that must be ignored unless you want to sweat yourself through tedious and repetitive battles!

User Rating: 3.5 | Eragon GBA
Eragon was and maybe still one of my favourite fantasy fiction novel I have read for a long time. It even outclassed Harry Potter. When it's movie was announced I had mixed reactions, because movies meant games and both could either rise the series to fame or make it bite the dust.

When Eragon released I preferred the GBA version over PSP's because I was a little apprehensive about it. Also I didn't want to spend extra amount on PSP games hence I bought GTA LCS for PSP and Eragon for GBA. LCS turned out superbly while Eragon turned out dismally. It does hurt to say but I myself didn't carry much expectations on it.

Basically Eragon follows the same storyline as that of the book. But few changes were made here and there to make it more exciting. In the beginning, the non-random battles like FFXII looked like an interesting prospect. Even the action RPG style cliche battle system looked innovative. Carvahall too looked great and it seemed like this game was like Zelda on smaller scale. All until you go outside the town. Dozens of tough battles await you which get repetitive and boring from the very first instant. Even the Zelda like exploration vanishes and all that is left is a dull and I mean a very dull game. What forced Eragon's game creators to make such a low graphical quality. Characters faces on the battle screens look like they are a blot of paint. Yes, Eragon's graphics are probably the worst on GBA to date. Then there are some useless additions where we can talk to Saphira. Her replies tend to be the same almost all the times. Sound fares a little better than the horrible graphics but still nowhere near even fair. Magic system, leveling the basic concepts are too complex and at times are downright frustrating.

I don't know what Sierra intended to do with this game by making so many changes in the gameplay. A normal Final Fantasy style gameplay would do great. Oh yes moreover, I was playing Final Fantasy V Advance the same time with LCS. Unable to resist I left the game of Eragon somewhere halfway through. Maybe I will complete it when I shall be very very happy. So to conclude this review I shall say Avoid Eragon unless you want to dampen your mood.
