Humor,great gameplay, and good sound all make Escape for monkey island an excellent game.
As the name implies the game starts off in a place called melee island and ends in a place called monkey island..This game is the 4th installment in the series so playing the prequels might help alot in understanding the story fully.If you havent played the others yet you're still fine the game does a great job at explaining things.
The graphics are pretty good looking and flow with the piratesque theme that the game tries to get across.The game has superb sound with clear well-done voice acting( thats where most of the humor comes in).The game has alot of value potentially depending on how fast you figure things out-Now it boils down to game play.The gameplay is good in terms off controls but the puzzles can be a bit overwhelming(in loss for a better word to describe it).Not that the puzzles are very difficult, its that some are so "real life like" that you wouldn't even expect it to be the solution. I wish i could describe this better but you'll understand once you play the game.Dont get frustrated when you get stuck( trust me you would from time to time) just keep playing and you'll figure things.I beat the game without help from cheat guides and all that stuff.You really have to think to play this game, you'll understand once you play it.Some puzzles are such that once you solve them you'll be amazed, simple yet difficult. All in all Escape from monkey island is a superb adventure game, one where you have to really think "out of the box" to make it to the ending cutscenes.
