So good that EA knew it was easier just buy the NFL lience then to try to compete with 2K

I wonder after 4 long years how I rather play 2K5 Football, on Xbox 1, then Madden 09, on the 360. To me I can't believe how fun running the football is, in 2k5, how you are constantly looking to shed tackles and break though holes but in Madden its so boring and robust. In 2K5 the RBs are always looking to gain more yards after being hit but it Madden there is always the same boring tackle animation where the RBs always fall to the ground, and did I mention how stupid the blocking AI is? I love passing the ball in 2K5 just as much. In 2K5 the receivers get up and move to get the ball, on one on one fly routes the QB throws the ball deep, just like real life, and positions himself perfectly to catch it. However in Madden your receivers arn't flexible and will not catch the ball unless its a slant route, unlike real life the receiever always loses in the same one on one fly routes.

I am at all at how fun it is to play defense is. There is no greater feeling then sacking the QB or returning a INT for a TD, its a hit stick away for perfection. However Madden with a hit stick is amazing boring you are constantly waiting to get the ball back and your Defense doesn't know the meaning of flexibility.

Franchise mode in 2K5 while not as detail is still better. I rather watch Sports Center then read a newspaper. Franchise in 2K5 is just right where you get everything you need to now you are a GM w/out being overcumble. However you do need to be careful with your math or else you can go over the slavery cap. And you are never to far away for gametime. I never really had a problem with franchise mode with Madden except that all the features especially Owner Box since it is more fun then the game itself.

In conclusion ESPN 2K5 NFL Football > Madden.
