For the most part, I agree with the Gamespot review. I'll just list a couple of things that I would have added or changed in his review Gameplay: In my experience so far (about 10 games), the difficulty settings are not satisfactory on any of the pre-defined levels. Slider tweaking is a must. The standard "Pro" setting is a joke to anyone who is remotely familar with recent console football games. The "All-Pro" setting does put the clamps down a bit, but passing is still a bit easy, especially for the CPU. Forget running the ball at all with the setting higher than "All-Pro". The CPU consistently can thread needles to well-covered recievers. On "All-Pro" and higher modes it can get frustrating when almost every pass play is a gorgeous completion if you don't manage to sack the QB. Anyways, I've tweaked my sliders to my liking. While it's only a moderate upgrade, you can make improvements to better balance run vs pass and run blocking vs pass rush. Graphics: Great in the default camera mode. However, I like to use a custom camera that gives a wider view of the field. I like to see my WR's break off the line and such. When you pull the camera back and use a custom setting, slowdown in the framerate can be an issue (PS2 version). It causes just enough lag in the gameplay to make it problematic. It's not a show-stopper, as I've just resigned myself to having to use one of the pre-defined camera angles. It is however something that I thought might be of interest to people who like to tweak everything. Overall: Great game. Simply incredible value for the asking price of under $20. In the past I've been almost purely a Madden buyer, although I did buy NFL2K3 along with Madden'03. At this point, I really don't see a reason to invest at all in Madden this year.
