A very complete football game. For 20 bucks you can't go wrong.

After playing ESPN NFL 2K5 for a couple weeks, I have come to the conclusion that this game is definitely worth the buy, and it’s only 20 bucks so how can you complain? Gameplay is very solid. It feels quite realistic in some areas. I haven’t played madden 2k5 but I did play Madden 2k4, and in Madden you could make the most ridiculous fluke passes ever. Online I would play people who would throw into double or even triple coverage (long bomb mind you) and the receiver would grab it 7 out of 10 times. In ESPN NFL 2K5 the defensive backs and safeties don’t play like rookies. They swat that fluke stuff away or pick it off. I’ve gotten way more interceptions so far in ESPN’s game in the past 2 weeks than I did with Madden which I played for a few months before I got sick of it and uninstalled it. (pc version) One thing with the ps2 I noticed (especially playing a friend 1v1) is the frames per second. You can definitely feel the drop in frames on certain plays. I hear the xbox version doesn’t have this problem. It becomes a hassle when you hit your pass button but you lag so it doesn’t register which usually leads to a sac. Or you try to get past that by quickly pressing it over and over again which only makes you pump fake. This doesn’t happen all the time, maybe 3 or 4 times a game. Other than that this game is pretty well polished and is a must have for any football fan. The crib mode is pretty cool, I haven’t gotten too much into the crib yet. But I have been establishing a nice rack of trophies of rewards of special things I’ve done in game i.e. kick a 50 yard field goal, get over 5 sacs etc. etc. I haven’t played Madden 2k5 so I’m not going to say which game is the better of the two, if I compare ESPN to Madden 2k4. ESPN is definitely better. I can only imagine it’s as good as Madden 2k5 or equal. There’s no way it’s worse =)
