ET go home. Is this game really that bad?

User Rating: 6.2 | E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial 2600
ET was a movie about an alien that was stranded on earth. The movie goes on to show how a small boy helps this alien get back home to his family.

Gameplay: This will be the sticking point for many. Simply put you ran ET all over the screen evading bad humans. Elliott who was the boy trying to help ET is present and gives you energy pellets (otherwise knowing as reese pieces). The objective was to collect 3 phone parts and then call your ship. After that you had to get to the ship before your energy ran out.

The game offered 3 levels of difficulty to help hone your skills.

Graphics: This the Atari 2600 so not much to write about.

Sound: Average for Atari 2600 games. The strangest sound was when you used ET's levitation power.

Value: This is one of those games you either liked it or hated it. Not too many in the middle ground. Overall if you were not into adventure games ET was not a game for you.

Tilt: I heard some stories about how people hated this game. There were not that many adventure games out for the Atari. Not to mention ET was one of the few games that was based on a movie. I personally think that is what made most hate this game. The movie was decent and then you played it on the Atari not exactly knowing for it's graphics or sounds.

Overall though I think if you were to play this game at it's easiest setting. I think many would like it. Especially as they learned how to master the game and to use the different zones to make certain things happen in this game.
