It may look old and dated compared to current games, but it is still a frightful blast to play.

User Rating: 8.5 | Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem GC
Don't be too afraid to continue.

Graphics: 7.5/10 - For an early Gamecube game, the graphics are pretty decent. The detail in the enviroments and the character models are really well done. The characters faces were really well done also. Each location is well done and each one feels unique. The only bad thing about the graphics are some on the enemies are bland in my eyes.

Story: 9/10 - Normally I am not big into stories and this one was no exception. The parts I watched and understood were really good. The story was really well written and coherent. Some of it I didnt understand, but that might have been intentional.

Gameplay: 7/10 - It sorta plays like Silent Hill but it is more fun since it is slightly faster paced. The controls are well placed on the controller. The game responds to the controls well too. There is an insanity effect that is pretty well thought of. When it gets too low, strange things start to happen. I won't spoil any of them, but they are pretty cool.

Sounds: 8/10 - The sounds effects are really good too. The weapons sound like they should and all of the basic stuff too. The music is pretty well done and none of it annoyed me and that was nice too. Nothing bad about the sounds IMO.

Innovation: 9/10 - Granted it doesnt improve on combat, but the story telling and presentation is pretty ingenius. The insanity effect is also well integrated too.

Controls: 8/10 - Like I said above, they respond well and are nicely mapped on the controller. The combat controls are nice except when you target an enemy. You target a wrong enemy and to target another one, you have to slightly let off the R button and press it again. Not a big problem, but annoying to me.

Overall: 8.5/10 - This is not an average. If you have a Gamecube, over 17 and don't own this game, get it. It is one of the better games I have played on the GC and it is pretty decent over all. My friend told me it was hard, but it isnt that difficult. Worth getting.

Rent, Buy, or Avoid: Buy. I found it for $9 at Gamecrazy and that sounds better than $50 for a new game.
