Patience is a virtue

User Rating: 7.5 | EVE Online: Empyrean Age PC
EVE to me doesn't approach me as the most accessible MMORPG, it can require quite a lot of time to get anywhere and requires quite a lot of learning from the get go. Although it is perfectly viable to play the game solo (although pvp becomes difficult in that respect), much more can be achieved with a group of players in the from of a corporation or alliance. Just getting in to a corp normally isn't difficult but that is due to the sheer number of them, but many corps are fairly exclusive and only accept player who've played for a certain amount of time or have a certain record.
Once you can get past the basics of the long learning process in EVE you can really begin to appreciate the game. One of the many unique factors of this game is it's reliance on the player population for the stimulation of ingame events. For example the market would not do anything without player interaction, very few items are purchasable from NPC producers. With Empyrean Age the players are now able to influence to path of the war that has broken out between the dominant factions in the game by joining the militia and attempting to expand their empire's control.
However EVE is definitely not without it's flaws, one of the main problems EVE has suffered from over the last few years is lag issues. The server is now barely able to cope with large numbers of players in a single area, especially if combat is involved. Also the dominant trade system (players will know where I mean...) can suffer from massive lag issues, delaying actions by several minutes at worst.
Overall if you can come to appreciate this game you are likely to find it extremely enjoyable, but without a doubt patience is required to overcome the small and sometimes difficult beginnings.
