A more relaxing challenge, like doing a crossword rather than doing a trachiotomy with a biro.

EVE Online, as many of you will know, is a Space bound MMORPG with only one server, this server is tranquility. In retrospect, the name sums it up, there can be thousands and thousands of people on at once (I believe the record is 30,000!) and yet you can float through a system without fear of bumping into a ship, or even seeing one. Scale is what this game is all about, from the size of the galaxy to the size of a ship, its all about the scale. I realised the other day, that I had spent a few hours mining, fending off some scavengers here and there, and all the while, learning how to become a better science officer. Bizzare? Perhaps, but this is the unique skill system that is in place, to learn a skill you simply click learn, and then the process builds up untill you learn it. Easy huh? At low levels it can take 15 minutes and at high levels, some skills can take 15 days! But here is the clever part, log out, and it carries on going up. While it may sound boring, you know that you are always learning something, even if you are kept from the computer for a couple of days! This game though, would be nothing without the players, its all about corporations, some are mining corps, some are pirates and some, are all about collecting bounties. You will get many invites into corporations, so untill you find the ideal one, hold out. Missions are also important, though some can be a bit boring, carrying a few hundred tonnes of ore from one side of the galaxy can be boring, if not lucrative. If you plot a safe course, it can take twice as long, but you can go and have a bath while your flying it! All in all its a nice game to play and there is a lot to do. Give it a go, you wont regret it!
