The game is meant to be a throwback to the old console RPGs. So naturally, if you haven't played those RPGs or grew up with them, you will not enjoy this game nearly as much. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone who has not delved into any of the old Zelda or Final Fantasy games, because there are several references to those games. For those of us who have though, I think you will love this game and find that it's a pleasant break from all the fast paced, overstimulating, action packed games of today. Evoland is a comfort game and won't be good if you have extremely high expectations of it. This game is by no means an Elder Scrolls or a Dragon Age. The game doesn't even take itself seriously, so why should you? Playing Evoland is a nice and fun experience, so don't judge it too harshly. It's not meant to be immersive, or action packed, or gory, or emotional. It's supposed to be a short, enjoyable little game, so you should treat it as such.
